March 7th - 9th March 2019 on Taipei.

They ask that you forward this document, along with the accompanying registration documents, to the clubs and 
any other relevant Kiwanians in your district.

I will forward a draft Convention programme, along with information regarding the convention hotels, when this 
information comes to hand.

Greetings to my fellow Kiwanis Asia-Pacific members,

I am glad to be with you as we look ahead to another successful year in our region.

Kiwanis Asia-Pacific continues to lead the way in club openings and membership growth. While we take time 
to celebrate these accomplishments, we must not rest! Spread the word about the impact of Kiwanis and invite
your friends and colleagues to attend a meeting or take part in a service project.

Our people and our mission are the heart of Kiwanis. When we come together our collaboration creates lasting 
opportunities for more children and strengthens communities.

A lot of planning has gone into this convention. Take advantage of the programs offered and let’s share 
some smiles and laughs as we grow Kiwanis from good to great.

I look forward to visiting with you. Thank you to Kiwanis ASPAC and to Taipei, Taiwan for hosting our gathering.

Fellow Kiwanians, dear friends and delegates



My name is Óskar Guðjónsson, a proud 29-year Kiwanis member of the Iceland –Faroes district.
Currently I also serve as the incumbent 



Kiwanis International – European Federation (KI-EF) President.  On the occasion of your convention I bring you my
personal greetings and those of the Federation and its members. My wife Konny and I are delighted to honor the reciprocal 
and long withstanding tradition of ASPAC and KI-EF leaders attending in each other´s annual convention. We are here 
and look forward to a memorable occasion.



I must use this opportunity to congratulate ASPAC members on their tremendous membership growth last year!  Unofficially 
KIEF and ASPAC have been engaged in a friendly membership competition.  Last year you handsomely surpassed Europe and 
became the second largest Kiwanis region outside N-A. We wholeheartedly rejoice in your success and pray it may continue for 
the benefit of Kiwanis and the children of the world. KI-EF on the other hand must now look for tools and tricks to make Europe 
great again!



This is our 4th trip to your region and the 3rd ASPAC island convention we join.  May it be a productive and successful 
convention where food, fun, fellowship and networking are enjoyed and appreciated.  I have heard that ASPAC conventions 
are different, and very much look forward to participating and maybe learn something which I can take to our European convention.

1. “Best Service Project” Contest:
i.      There will be a “Best Service Project” Contest at the ASPAC Convention.
ii.     Each District/Provisional District and each Kiwanis Nation is invited to submit only one (1) Best
        Service Project for the contest.
iii.    The submission can be made in the following format:
•    written report (5 pages maximum); kindly submit      copies of report,
•    power-point slides (10 slides maximum),
•    video (3 minutes maximum).
iv.     The Best Service Project must preferably have taken place during the calendar year 2018, from
         January 2018 to December 2018.
v.      The Best Service Project will be judged on the following criteria:
•    Impact – Number of children served or impacted by the project
•    Inspiration – Number of Kiwanis members involved in project
•    Image – Publicity generated by the project
•    Quality of the project report
vi.    One prize will be given for the Best Service Project which was carried out within District/Provisional
        District.
vii.   One prize will be given for the Best Service Project which was carried out within  non-districted
        Kiwanis Nation.
viii. Kindly hand your submission at the Convention Secretariat  by 5:00pm on Thursday 7th March
        2019. (Attention: ASPAC Convention Organising Chair Hsu, Chang-Ching).
2.   “Best District Exhibit” Contest:
i.      There will be a “Best District Exhibit” Contest at the ASPAC Convention.
ii.     Each District/ Provisional District is invited to submit only one(1)Best Display Exhibit for the contest.
iii.    A display  area will be provided at the Convention Venue  for each exhibitor.
iv.     The participating District/Provisional District will exhibit events, activities and projects carried out in
         the District/Provisional District in the calendar years 2017 and 2018.
v.      The Best District Exhibit will be judged on the following criteria:
•    Impact – Number of children served or impacted
•    Inspiration – Number of Kiwanis members involved
•    Image – Publicity generated
•    Quality of the Exhibit
vi.    Prizes will be given for the Best District Exhibit contest.
vii.   The exhibits must be put u by Friday 8th March 2019 (before 12:00), and taken down on Saturday
         9th March (between 3:00pm and 5:00pm).
viii.  Judging of the Best District Exhibit contest will take place on Friday 8th March 2019 (from 4:00pm
        to 5:00pm) during which time District/ Provisional District Kiwanians must be present to describe
        the Exhibits to the judges.
3.   Inspirational Report by 8 District Governors, 1 District Chairs, and 2
      Kiwanis Nations Representatives:

i.      District Governors and District Chairs – kindly prepare a report of events, activities, projects, and
    achievements to be presented at the General Business Session 1 on Friday 8th March 2019
    (maximum 10 minutes each in a power-point slide or video format).
ii.     Kiwanis Nations – kindly prepare a report of events, activities, projects, and achievements
    (maximum 10 minutes each in a power-­‐point slide or video format).
iii.  Kindly submit your report in a thumb drive to the ASPAC Secretary/Treasurer, Norman McLennan,
      during the ASPAC Executive Board meeting on Thursday 8th March 2018, and/or send to him at
      namclennan@bigpond.com prior to that date.
iv.     Awards will be presented for the Best District Report and Best Kiwanis Nation Report.
v.      To ensure that the power-­‐point slides or videos will be compatible with the laptop computer being
         used at the Convention, kindly use Microsoft Power-­‐Point (for slides) or MPEG4 format for videos,
         or contact Norman McLennan (namclennan@bigpond.com for more details.
4.   Song/Dance Presentations at the Closing Ceremony:

i.      Each District/Provisional District/Kiwanis Nation is invited to present a short song and/or dance
        performance (about 5 minutes each).
ii.     Prizes will be given for the best performance.
iii.    Kindly notify the ASPAC Convention Organising Chair Hsu, Chang-Ching by 13th February if you wish
        to participate.
